The United States Coast Guard has updated type approval requirements for survival craft carried on U.S. flagged vessels.
This update removes the requirement for nine pieces of survival craft equipment to have Coast Guard type approval and now requires the manufacturer self-certify that the equipment complies with a consensus standard.
These nine types of equipment will no longer have Coast Guard Certificates of Approvals (COAs).
This rule has been published on November 14th, 2022 and goes into effect on December 14th, 2022.
