Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has released new requirements for NDT service suppliers outlining several amendments that will take effect on January 1, 2025.
In Section 1: General, amendments have been made to enhance clarity in the scope of the document. New definitions have been introduced for terms such as ANDT, AUT, ET, and VT, while existing definitions for NDT and NDT service suppliers have been revised. Additionally, the list of references has been updated.
Section 2: Requirements for NDT Service Suppliers includes a new requirement for employers to provide a written statement authorizing operators to perform specific tasks based on their certification scope. Minor editorial changes have also been made for clarity. A new clause clarifies that an NDT operator's certification from an employer-based scheme will be revoked if employment is terminated. There are now specified options for the certification of Level 3 personnel. Furthermore, the section addressing the responsibilities and requirements for NDT supervisors has undergone a complete revision for improved clarity. Editorial changes have been made across several subsections to enhance clarity and implementation of requirements. Lastly, a new specification for the validity period of approval has been introduced.
