The Panama Canal Authority reduces the number of available slots
The Panama Canal Authority has announced that as of August 8, 2023, Booking Condition 3 is implemented for the Panamax Locks.
During this period, there will be a reduction in the number of available slots, with 10 slots for supers and 4 slots for regular vessels.
This condition will remain in place until August 21, 2023.
Applications for slots under this condition commenced at 0900 hours on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
The distribution of slots during Booking Condition 3 will follow the guidelines outlined in the Condition Table of Notice to Shipping No. N-7-2023.
The special auction slots will remain unchanged, with two (2) slots allocated for supers and one (1) slot for regular vessels.
However, the extraordinary auction for the Panamax Locks will be temporarily suspended during this period.
Furthermore, for the Neopanamax Locks, the extraordinary auctions for booking dates between August 8, 2023, and August 21, 2023, will also be suspended.
The daily auction, available 7 days before the transit date, and the regular special auction will continue as usual.
It's important to note that any slots canceled during the 3rd Booking Period while Booking Condition 3 is in effect for the Panamax locks will not be made available again.
The special auctions for the Panamax Locks will continue to be conducted in their regular manner.
