The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore informed about the Maritime Mobile Service Identity number and a Ship Station Licence

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) released a circular providing information about the online application process for obtaining a Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number and a Ship Station Licence, both of which are necessary for ship registration with the Singapore Ship Registry.

To get an MMSI number, Singapore ships equipped with the Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS) must contact Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) by emailing Kenny_Wong@imda.gov.sg and Kimberly_Teo@imda.gov.sg.

This email application should include the ship's name and call sign.

It's important to note that the assigned MMSI number is valid for two months from the assignment date and will be withdrawn if no Ship Station Licence application is received by IMDA within that period.

For the Ship Station Licence, Singapore ships that have or need a radio station must apply to IMDA after obtaining the Certificate of Registry from MPA.

Applications can be made online through the GoBusiness Licensing portal.

If a third party is applying on behalf of the ship owner, the owner must authorize them via https://www.corppass.gov.sg/corppass/common/userguides, specifically under "Authorise and Manage Third Party Entity."

For any changes or inquiries regarding the Ship Station Licence, please contact IMDA via email at Kenny_Wong@imda.gov.sg or Kimberly_Teo@imda.gov.sg.

This circular supersedes Shipping Circular No. 3 of 2021, and any references to the previous circular should be considered as references to this current circular.
