China Classification Society (CCS) has updated its guidelines that came into force on 1 July 2024.
Here is a summary of the key changes:
Coating
- Revisions to specific terms
- Modifications to the "VOC content" test and related standards
- Deletion of certain unified requirements
Marine Plastic Pipes
- Amendments to "Application, Normative reference documents, Terms and definitions, Technical requirements, Materials and components, and Type test" to align with the rules
Fire Monitor
- Modifications to the definition of fire cannons
- Added requirements for corrosion-resistant materials
- Revised water pressure testing requirements
- New high and low temperature performance tests
- Salt spray corrosion tests
- Updated performance parameters and illustrations for fire monitors
Welding Consumables
- Revisions to align with the CCS "Rules for Materials and Welding"
- Updated inspection requirements for welding flux based on national standards
Copper Alloy Propellers
- Deletion of requirements for propeller weight inspection and raw material lists
- Removal of a statement regarding propeller designer submissions for modified zone A repair requirements
Steel Wire Ropes
- Adjustments to the guide's scope to align with CCS Rules for Materials and Welding
- Modified product certification requirements
- Changes in wording (e.g., "national standard" to "standard")
Steel Wire Rope Sling
- Revised certification requirements
- Changes in wording for submission processes
Clad Steel Plate
- Enhancements to cladding methods for steel plates
- Types of cladding materials
- Definitions, production equipment requirements, repair processes, raw material requirements
- Tensile test elongation requirements
- Corrosion testing requirements
- Other editorial modifications
