The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has issued a navigation circular concerning chemical and other liquid bulk tankers operating between ports on the east coast of the Americas and the US Gulf on one side and Indian ports and its eastern ports on the other side.
Circular No. (3/2023) was issued on 21 June 2023 and became effective on 1 July 2023.
Article One
"Chemical & Other Liquid Bulk" Tankers between the American Gulf and India will receive rebates:
a) Ports west of India get a 25% rebate.
b) Ports up to Port Klang get a 55-75% rebate.
Tankers from the East Coast of North America to India get rebates:
a) Ports up to Port Klang get a 15% rebate.
b) Port Klang and eastward get a 25% rebate.
Article Two
To benefit, companies must request rebates through their agency before departure.
No commercial ports should be called during the voyage.
Pay full Suez Canal tolls, get rebates refunded within a year with required documents.
Article Three
This applies to vessels leaving the "Origin port" between July 1 - December 31, 2023.
