The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) published port marine circular 07 of 2024 announcing the launch of the Digital Harbour Craft Manning Licence starting from 1 September 2024.
This digital licence is designed to serve as an alternative official identification document for those who hold the Singapore Harbour Craft Manning Licence.
With the launch of this digital licence, the MPA will cease issuing physical licence cards from 1 September 2024 onwards. However, existing licence holders can continue to use their current physical cards or opt to use the new digital licence instead.
The Digital Harbour Craft Manning Licence offers several benefits, including enhanced convenience and quicker access to licence information. New applicants will find the process more efficient as they won't need to wait for the printing and distribution of a physical card. Licence holders will also be able to easily check the validity of their licence by scanning a QR code provided on the digital version.
The MPA has provided additional resources, including detailed instructions on how to access the digital licence and frequently asked questions, which are available in the attached annexes.
For any further inquiries, the MPA’s Marine Licensing and Permits department can be reached by phone at 1800 272 7777 or by email at mlp@mpa.gov.sg. This initiative reflects the MPA’s ongoing efforts to leverage digital technologies for greater efficiency and user convenience within the maritime sector.
