Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) has published the revision of the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships, Part XVII Distinguishing Marks and Descriptive Notations in the Class Notation Specifying Structural and Operational Particulars of Ships.
The present edition of the Rules is based on the 2021 edition, taking into account the amendments and additions developed before publication. The changes have been circulated in several Circular Letters on the 14th of December and include changes to Paragraphs 4.2.2.1, 13.2.1 and 13.2.4.3, while Section 13 and Chapter 13.2 have been renamed.
Revised Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships
Amended paragraph 4.2.2.1 specifies requirements regarding necessity of verification of ship's stability at icing, while paragraph 13.2.1 specifies requirements for ships that may be assigned descriptive notations, precisely 'Standby vessel' and 'Salvage ship'. The latter paragraph also introduces requirements for ships carrying equipment for fire fighting aboard other ships. New paragraph 13.2.4.3 is added to The Rules and contains additional requirements for life-saving appliances.
The rules have been approved in accordance with the established approval procedure and came into force on 01 January 2022.
