RMRS releases updated maritime guidelines

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) has released several updated guidelines that took effect on July 1, 2024.

These updates are designed to enhance maritime safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance. The key guidelines include:

Guidelines on the Application of the Requirements of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004: This document provides instructions on implementing measures to prevent the spread of harmful aquatic organisms through ballast water discharge.
  2. Annexes to the Guidelines on Technical Supervision of Ships in Service: These annexes offer detailed procedures and standards for the ongoing technical inspection and maintenance of ships, ensuring they remain in compliance with safety regulations throughout their operational life.
  3. Guidelines on the Application of Provisions of the Technical Code on Control of Emission of Nitrogen Oxides from Marine Diesel Engines: This guideline outlines the requirements for reducing nitrogen oxide emissions from marine diesel engines, contributing to global efforts to minimize air pollution from maritime sources.
  4. Guidelines on Technical Supervision of Ships in Service: This comprehensive guide provides updated procedures for the regular inspection, maintenance, and certification of ships, aimed at ensuring their operational safety and efficiency.
  5. Guidelines on the Application of Provisions of the International Convention MARPOL 73/78: This document details the application of MARPOL provisions, focusing on the prevention of pollution from ships through the control of discharges of oil, noxious liquid substances, harmful substances in packaged form, sewage, and garbage.
