RMRS issues amendments to Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) has amended Part I, Part IV, Part VI, Part VII, Part VIII, Part XI, Part XII and Part XVII of the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships.

Other than the deletion of several paragraphs and renumbering of remaining paragraphs, the amendments specified several requirements, such as the requirements for electrical equipment ensuring electromagnetic compatibility and the requirements for survivor's spaces.

Several new requirements have also been introduced, including the requirement for automatic shutdown of submersible fuel pumps, requirement for provision of additional pressure indicators and requirements for safety system functions.

Other amendments include the specification of the list of spaces to be fitted with effective gas detection systems, addition of the list of monitored parameters for fuel installation using gases or low-flashpoint fuels and the introduction of several new definitions.

The amendments become effective between 01.08.2022 and 01.09.2022 depending on the amending circular letter, which can be viewed in the Relevant Documents list below.
