The Polish Register of Shipping (PRS) has released the Guidelines for Design, Installation, and Type Testing of Fixed Fire-extinguishing Systems Used Onboard Ships.
Application
This Publication provides guidelines for the design, installation, and performance of type tests for fixed fire-extinguishing systems used onboard ships.
These guidelines are necessary to comply with the Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-going Ships, Part V – Fire Protection.
The development of these guidelines was based on relevant final documents (resolutions/circulars) from the IMO MSC Committee.
After successfully meeting the requirements of the product type approval procedure and passing the type tests with satisfactory results, the systems are eligible to receive the Product Type Approval Certificate.
These Guidelines were published on 19 June 2023 and entered into force on 1 July 2023.
