PRS amends multiple rules
Polish Register of Shipping (PRS) has amended several of its rules, including Rules for Statutory Survey of Sea-going Ships, Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers and Rules for Classification and Construction of Sea-going Ships.
The Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers, originally published by IACS and reissued by PRS, enters into force on July 1st 2022 and supersedes the January 2021 version.
Due to amendments to the BWM Convention, the Rules for Statutory Survey of Sea-Going Ships were amended. The amended Part IX Paragraph 11.6 - Installation and commissioning test became effective on 01 June 2022 and requires an initial survey before the ship is put in service to verify that the Ballast Water Management Plan (BWMP) complies fully with the requirements of BWM Convention.
Rules for the Classification and Construction of Sea-Going Ships had two minor amendments made to Part VII Machinery, Boilers and Pressure Vessels. Paragraph 1.3.2.2 had the sentence "The FMEA reports required will not be explicitly approved by PRS” deleted, and to Paragraph 6.6.1 the date of ISO standards’ issue was added. The amendments become effective on 01 July 2022.
