The Panama Maritime Authority has released a merchant marine notice regarding approved ASI inspectors.
This notice was published on 1 September 2023.
The notice provides information to ship owners, operators, and masters about unauthorized entities attempting ASI inspections.
It warns against communication from specific companies or individuals not listed in MMC-374 or the official ASI inspectors list.
The mentioned entities to reject communication from include AW Marine, Mass Maritime Consultancy, Canyon Maritime, Ashton Wong, Flag State Inspection Company, and MK Marine Surveyors.
Authorized inspectors must have an Authorization Letter and can be verified through MMC-374 or the official list of ASI inspectors.
The notice also states that remote annual safety inspections are not allowed without prior authorization and that those conducting unauthorized inspections will be canceled.
Ship owners, operators, and masters are encouraged to review this notice for further information.
