Panama Canal issues an advisory on the draft adjustment in the Neopanamax locks
The Panama Canal Authority on May 3, 2023, issued an advisory on the draft adjustment in the Neopanamax locks.
Effective May 24, 2023, the maximum authorized draft allowed for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks will be 13.56 m (44.5 feet) TFW, and effective May 30, 2023, it will be 13.41 m (44.0 feet) TFW.
The adjustment is based on the current and projected level of Gatun Lake for the upcoming weeks.
This change will affect vessels passing through the Panama Canal, as they will need to comply with the new maximum authorized draft limit.
The ACP is implementing this adjustment to ensure safe and efficient transits through the canal.
Shipping agents, owners, and operators should take note of these changes and adjust their operations accordingly to avoid any potential issues or delays.
The ACP will continue to monitor the lake's level and announce future draft adjustments in a timely manner.
