The Panama Canal Authority issued an advisory to shipping No. A-16-2024, announcing an increase in the maximum allowable draft in the Neopanamax Locks due to the onset of the rainy season in the Canal watershed.
The implementation date for the maximum authorized draft has been moved forward to immediately, instead of June 15, 2024, as originally scheduled. Vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks are now allowed a maximum authorized draft of 13.71 meters (45.0 feet) TFW.
