The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) has published a preliminary report on best practices for managing survival craft on fixed/floating offshore installations.
The report aims to promote safe and environmentally responsible transportation of oil, oil products, petrochemicals, and gas, as well as drive the same values in the management of related offshore marine operations.
The report highlights the need for a risk-based approach to assurance testing, as well as the importance of considering additional specifications during the design and fabrication of SOLAS-type approved lifeboats.
The report also advocates for safe working practices for offshore industry personnel, vessel crews, training providers, manufacturers, and other maritime industry participants when operating, testing, and maintaining survival craft at offshore locations.
This report was published on 1 December 2023.
