MoUs on port state control for Indian Ocean Region and Black Sea Region

Two very important documents about port state control were published on January 1st, 2023.

Memorandum of Understanding on port state control for the Indian Ocean Region

The revised Memorandum of Understanding on port state control for the Indian Ocean Region was signed by 22 maritime authorities which recognized the need to increase maritime safety and the protection of the marine environment and the importance of improving living and working conditions on board ships, as well as the need to avoid distorting competition between ports.

These authorities are also convinced that the improved and harmonized system of port state control and strengthening cooperation, including the exchange of information, is necessary.

Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in the Black Sea Region

Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control in the Black Sea Region, including the 13th Amendment, entered into force on January 1st, 2023.

This MuO, similar to the one on the port control for the Indian Ocean Region, was signed by the maritime authorities of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Turkey, and Ukraine.
