Lloyd's Register has published the Summary Report for the IMO Ship Systems and Equipment Sub-Committee (SSE 10).
SSE 10 was held from 4 to 8 March 2024 in London to address vital technical and safety concerns regarding ship systems. Here are the highlights from their March 2024 meeting:
- Ventilation Requirements for Lifeboats and Liferafts
- Amendments to HSC Codes: Harmonizing HSC Codes with SOLAS for infant safety
- Amendments for Self-Righting Tests for Lifeboats
- Amendments to Life-Saving Appliance Evaluation Forms
- Considered provisions to restrict the use of fire-fighting foams containing fluorinated substances
- Standards for Flame Prevention in Tankers: Drafting revised standards for tanker flame prevention
- Unified interpretation of SOLAS regulation II-1/26.2 for passenger ships
- Interpretation of IMO Conventions: various unified interpretations of safety, security, and environmental provisions within IMO conventions.
