Lloyd's Register, on 26 April 2023, informed about the agenda for the IMO Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue Sub-Committee (NCSR 10).
NCSR 10 will be held from 10 - 19 May 2023.
The IMO Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue Sub-Committee is where all matters related to navigation and communication, search and rescue and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System are discussed.
The information in LR's NCSR 10 Agenda Preview is applicable to all designers, shipyards, shipowners, ships' crews, ship managers, and equipment manufacturers.
The Agenda Preview includes an executive summary for those requiring a general overview, and more technical information and explanations for those who would like more detail on the discussions that are expected to take place.
Key items include:
- Development of revisions to SOLAS regulation V/23 and associated instruments to improve the safety of pilot transfer arrangements.
- Development of performance standards for a digital navigational system (NAVDAT), and a roadmap for its development and implementation.
- Review of COMSAR.1/Circ.32/Rev.1 Harmonisation of GMDSS Requirements for Radio Installations on board SOLAS Ships to resolve a number of discrepancies, gaps and inconsistencies identified.
