Lloyd's Register, on 13 July 2023, informed about the agenda for the IMO Implementation of IMO Instruments Sub-Committee (III 9).
This meeting will take place from 31 July - 4 August at the IMO in London.
The IMO Implementation of IMO Instruments Sub-Committee (III) is where matters related to flag, port and coastal States, such as analysis of maritime accidents, port State Control procedures and the guidelines for survey and certification are discussed.
LR Agenda Preview includes an executive summary for those requiring a general overview, and more technical information and explanations for those who would like more detail on the discussions that are expected to take place.
Key items to be considered include:
- Draft guidelines on the assessment and application of remote statutory surveys, ISM Code audits and ISPS Code verifications - Consideration of the proposals for amendments to the Survey Guidelines under the HSSC (A.1156(32)) and the Revised guidelines on the implementation of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code by Administrations.
- Finalisation of the draft amendments to the Survey Guidelines under the Harmonized System of Survey and Certification (HSSC). The proposed draft revisions take into account the amendments to the relevant mandatory instruments due to enter into force up to and including 31 December 2023 and amendments to SOLAS which enter into force 1 January 2024.
- Finalisation of the draft amendements to the Procedures for Port State Control (A.1155(32)). The proposed draft amendments include guidelines for the detention of ships under MARPOL Annex VI.
Applicability: shipowners, ships' crews, ship managers, Flag administrations, and port authorities.
