Lloyd's Register, on 8 September 2023, informed about the agenda for the IMO Carriage of Cargoes and Containers Sub-Committee (CCC 9).
CCC 9 will meet in London from 20 - 29 September.
The IMO Carriage of Cargoes and Containers Sub-Committee is where all matters related to the carriage of packaged dangerous goods, solid bulk cargoes, bulk gas cargoes and containers are discussed.
The Sub-Committee reviews or updates relevant codes including the IMSBC, IMDG, IGF and IGC Codes.

Key items to be considered include:
Development of standards for alternative fuels
- Finalisation of the Interim guidelines for the safety of ships using hydrogen as fuel.
- Finalisation of the Interim guidelines for the safety of ships using low flashpoint oil fuels.
- Further discussion on the Interim guidelines for the safety of ships using ammonia.
- Amendments to the Interim Guidelines for the Safety of Ships Using Fuel Cell Power Installations.
- Amendments to the Interim guidelines for the safety of ships using methyl/ethyl alcohol as fuel.
Amendments to the IGC Code to include “Safety provisions for the safe use of LPG Cargo as fuel”.
Revision of the Interim recommendations for carriage of liquefied hydrogen in bulk.
