The Liberia Maritime Authority has issued a marine advisory note (MA 29/2022) regarding the use of record and log books on board ships. This note was published on December 20th, 2022, and entered into force on January 1st, 2023.
The purpose is to inform shipowners, operators, inspectors, and masters of revisions to the Liberian Maritime Regulations RLM-108 related to the use of record and log books onboard ships.
With effect from 1 January 2023, the following record and log books shall be officially issued by the Administration in paper format or as an electronic record book (ERB) or logbook approved by the Administration:
1. Oil Records Book Parts I and II;
2. Cargo Record Book - NLS;
3. Garbage Records Book Parts I and II;
4. Ballast Water Record Book;
5. GMDSS Radio Log; and
existing record and log books not officially issued by the Administration may continue to be used until onboard supplies of such versions are exhausted.
