Isle of Man revises Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations for 2024

The Isle of Man Ship Registry published revised Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations for the year 2024.

This document was published on 20 March 2024 and became effective on 1 April 2024.

The document outlines a fee structure for various maritime activities, covering passenger ships, fishing vessels, pleasure vessels, company fees, liability certificates, seafarer's certificates and documents, and registry services.

For passenger ships, annual registration fees vary based on whether they are technically managed from the Isle of Man or not, with discounts available for eco-friendly practices. Additional fees apply for verifications, surveys, audits, inspections, and new build services.

Fishing vessels are subject to fees for surveys and inspections, depending on location and work type.

Pleasure vessels are subject to annual registration fees determined by their size, and extra charges are applicable if they adhere to Large Commercial Yacht Code Compliance.

Company fees cover audits, certificate fees, and MLC recruitment and placement service inspections.

Liability certificates involve fees for various types of insurance, such as civil liability for oil pollution damage and wreck removal.

Seafarer's certificates and documents are subject to fees for endorsements, replacements, and other services.

Registry services include a variety of fees covering registration, ownership transfers, mortgages, certificates, and associated services.

The regulations also include schedules detailing MARPOL Annex VI EEDI reduction factors.
