Indian Register of Shipping (IRClass) has published a new version of its Rules and Regulations for the Construction and Classification of Inland Waterways Vessels.
This edition supersedes the July 2022 edition and incorporates amendments published in three Rules Change Notices: Notice No.1 of September 2022, Notice No.2 of December 2022, and Notice No.3 of March 2023.
To make it easier for users to find information, the respective tables provide a summary of the additions and amendments included in the various Rule Change Notices issued since July 2022, along with their effective dates.
This edition of the Rules also includes amendments made after the publication of Notice No.3 in March 2023, and these amendments are specifically listed in Table 1.
The Rule Book is divided into different parts: Part 1 consists of Regulations, Part 2 focuses on the Inspection and Testing of Materials (matching Part 2 of the 'Rules and Regulations for the Construction and Classification of Steel Ships'), Part 3 covers General Hull Requirements, Part 4 deals with Main and Auxiliary Machinery, and Part 5 addresses Special Ship Types.
This document was published on 1 June 2023 and will become effective on 1 July 2023.
