The Directorate General of Shipping, India issued a training circular on July 11, 2024, to update maritime training course details.
Key Points:
Revised Course IDs and Names:
Amendments to Existing Courses:
- Course ID 3212: The course formerly known as "MEO Class-III SEO-NC - Part A" is now correctly referred to as "MEO (NCV SEOI Part 'A')".
- Course ID 3213: The course formerly known as "MEO Class-III SEO-NC - Part B" is now correctly referred to as "MEO (NCV SEOI Part 'B')".
- Course ID 3232: The course name has been updated from "MEO Class-III (CEO-NCV)" to "MEO (CEO-NCV)". Additionally, the duration has been revised from 4 months to 2 months.
Introduction of New Bridging Courses:
- Bridging Course from MEO Class III CEO to MEO Class I NCV: Duration is 2 weeks, and the new Course ID is 3215.
- Bridging Course from MEO Class III SEO to MEO Class II NCV SEO: Duration is 1 month, and the new Course ID is 3216.
Deactivation of Duplicate Course ID:
Course ID 3214: This ID, previously allocated for "MEO Class III CEO-NCV", is now considered a duplicate. The course ID 3232 will be used instead, and ID 3214 has been deactivated.
Approval Process for New Bridging Courses:
The new bridging courses do not require a separate approval process. Maritime Training Institutes (MTIs) already approved for the parent courses (MEO (CEO-NCV) or MEO (NCV SEO)) will automatically be approved to offer these new bridging courses.
