Classification Society Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK) has published a new version of the Guidelines for Large-Capacity Storage Batteries.
The document was published on 01 January 2023.
Where lithium-ion storage batteries with a total capacity of 20 kWh or more are used on a ship whose contract date for construction is on or after 1 January 2023, the newly established requirements will apply.
This change has been reflected in this new version of the guidelines.
This guideline will continue to apply to lithium-ion battery equipment with a total capacity of less than 20 kWh, sealed lead storage batteries, sealed nickel metal hydride storage batteries, and sodium-sulfur storage batteries.
