The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) on 13 November 2023 released a report on the potential of hydrogen as a fuel in the shipping sector.
The report, the latest publication in EMSA’s alternative fuel series, examines the technical issues, regulatory frameworks, and state of play for the application of hydrogen as a fuel.
It analyses the current production capacity for hydrogen, the existing regulatory landscape, fuel storage options, supply and power generation technologies, as well as techno-economic analyses and risk-based case studies.
