The Cargo Incident Notification System (CINS), in cooperation with the International Group of P&I Clubs, the TT Club, and ICHCA, published the Lithium-ion Batteries in Containers Guidelines (C-SAR 101-A).
These Guidelines are intended to highlight the risks that Li-Ion batteries can present and provide suggestions for identifying those risks and ensuring the safe carriage of Li-Ion batteries, states CINS in the document.
All stakeholders involved in the carriage of Lithium-ion Batteries in containers are asked to review these Guidelines carefully, to determine if they can be implemented and applied to their specific operation.
This document will be reviewed again in September 2023.
