CCS updates the Rules for Classification of Sea-Going Steel Ships

China Classification Society (CCS) has published new Rules for Classification of Sea-Going Steel Ships, along with a notice regarding changes to these rules.

The documents became effective on 1 July 2023.

Rules

The updated version of the Rules for Classification of Sea-going Steel Ships (2023) incorporates various changes, including the following:

1. The implementation of 2022 RCN No.3, which became effective on July 1, 2022.
2. The introduction of 2023 RCN No.1, which came into effect on January 1, 2023.
3. The inclusion of 2023 Amendments to the Rules for Classification of Sea-going Steel Ships, which became effective on July 1, 2023.

These updates and amendments are integrated into the Rules for Classification of Sea-going Steel Ships (2023), providing an updated framework for the classification of such vessels.

Rule change notice

The latest revisions to the Rules for Classification of Sea-going Steel Ships (2023) include several key updates:

Part One:

• Incorporates revisions to ISO 17025 edition and changes reporting requirements for Service Suppliers of BWMS.
• Adds or revises class notations based on new CCS rules and guidelines.

Part Eight:

• Introduces ready requirements for existing CCS class notations, specifying technical requirements, submission plans, and identification forms for ready design and arrangement.
• Develops new chapter for carbon capture system application on ships, including class notation and corresponding plans and information.
