CCS published the Guidelines for Inspection of Hull Welds

The China Classification Society (CCS) has published the Guidelines for Inspection of Hull Welds.

This Guideline was published on 16 June 2023 and will enter into force on 1 August 2023.

Welders involved in operations covered by the Guidelines must receive specialized training and pass qualification tests administered by CCS to be certified.

The certificate issued by CCS allows welders to perform welding within the specified range. Upon satisfactory qualification tests, CCS issues a Qualification Certificate of Welder, with validity, renewal, and extension following the rules outlined in Chapter 4 of CCS Rules for Materials and Welding.

Manufacturers are responsible for controlling the certificate's validity and application.

The format of the Welder's Qualification Certificate can be found in Appendix 3B, with the actual certificate issued by CCS prevailing.

The certificate's completion and applicability depend on factors such as the type of welding and associated plate thicknesses.

CCS issues a qualification certificate to welding operators upon passing the examination, and the shipyard/manufacturer determines its validity period and scope of application.

The qualification certificate includes information on base metal coverage, welding process, equipment, joint type, position, and validity date, along with personal details and the name of the shipyard/manufacturer.

CCS confirms the continuation of a welding operator's qualification by signing their qualification certificate, provided all conditions are met.
