CCS issues guidelines for qualifying new maritime technologies

China Classification Society (CCS) has published guidelines for the qualification of new technology applications in 2024.

These guidelines were published on 1 April 2024.

The document provides guidance for the qualification of new technology applications in the maritime industry. ​

It includes information on the purposes, scope of application, terminologies, and responsibilities of the parties involved.

The qualification process is divided into different stages, including concept verification, prototype validation, system integration, real ship application qualification, ship design evaluation, and ship application verification. ​Each stage involves engineering evaluation and risk assessment to ensure safety and reliability. Required documents include qualification plans and technical specifications.​

The qualification process is carried out by the China Classification Society (CCS), and certificates are issued upon successful qualification.
