CCS amends multiple Product Inspection and Testing Guidelines
China Classification Society (CCS) has recently amended several of their Material and Equipment Guidelines for Product Inspection and Testing.
Marine product inspection plays a key role in the work of ship survey since the quality of products is the foundation and guarantee of high quality ships. Recent CCS amendments focused primarily on metal materials and products, but several other non-metal materials and products guidelines were also amended.
Metal material product guidelines that were amended include the following: Rolled Steel, Aluminium Alloy Plates, Steel Frogings, Anchors, Steel for Anchor Chain Cables Sand Accessories, Copper Alloy Propellers, Steel Wire Ropes, Steel Pipes and Tubes, Steel Wire Rope Sling, Steel Pipe Fittings, Steel Billets, Stainless Steel Pipes and Marine Alloy Sterntube Bearing.
All amendments to metal products became effective on the date of their publication which is 24 April 2022.
Amended non-metal product guidelines include Mechanical Joint, Flexible Hose, Heat Exchangers, Container Securing Arrangements, Coating, Fiber Ropes, Marine Rubber Flooring, Polymer Bearing Materials, Marine Plastic Pipes and Welding Consumables.
CCS Product Inspection and Testing Guideline contains the technical requirements, inspection and testing criteria related to classification and statutory survey of marine products to be applied for CCS approval/inspection. The Guideline frees the users to adopt other test methods and requirements which are equivalent to or are stricter than the Guideline.
