Australia implements legislation on prevention of pollution from ships and harmful anti-fouling systems

The Australian Government published two compiled marine pollution legislation documents:

• Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983, and
• Protection of the Sea (Harmful Anti-fouling Systems) Act 2006.

Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983

This document was issued on December 16, 2022, and is effective from December 6, 2022.

It is a compilation of the Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983 that shows the text of the law as amended.

Protection of the Sea (Harmful Anti-fouling Systems) Act 2006

This document was issued on January 10, 2023, and is effective from January 1, 2023.

It is a compilation of the Protection of the Sea (Harmful Anti-fouling Systems) Act 2006 that shows the text of the law as amended.
