The Panama Canal Authority has issued an advisory regarding the adjustment to 14.78 m (48.5 feet) TFW in the Neopanamax Locks.
The document was published on 28 February 2023 and is addressed to all shipping agents, owners, and operators.
Based on the present and projected level of Gatun Lake, the maximum authorized draft allowed for vessels transiting the Neopanamax locks will be 14.78 m (48.5 feet) TFW and the effective date is 28 March 2023.
Vessels arriving with drafts over 14.78 m (48.5 feet) TFW could be allowed to transit depending on the level of Gatun Lake at the time of transit. Otherwise, ships will be required to trim or off-load cargo.
